International championship of cooks in Moscow

Croatian Culinary Representation participated for the first time at the international championship of cooks at the Kremlin Culinary Cup held in Moscow from 3rd to 6th October. Among 500 cooks from 20 countries participants from Italy, Holland, Denmark, Russia, Turkey, Israel, Japan and other countries, the Croatian representation took the deserved 2 medals. Croatia was represented in Moscow by four-member team composed of Hrvoje Zirojević ("Noštromo" restaurant, Split), Grozdana Bohorč ("Fantasy" restaurant, Ludbreg), Marija Kuzminski ("Turist" hotel, Varaždin") and Matija Balent ("Antunović" hotel, Zagreb), led by the selector Branko Ognjenović ("Bon Apetit" restaurant, Zagreb). Among the competition of 30 cooks in the category "Warm poultry meal" Hrvoje Zirojević won silver medal, and in the "An original fish meal" category won a diploma. In the competition of 20 cooks in the category of "Desert" Grozdana Bohorč won the bronze medal.
In this first international competition with six categories, medals were won in two categories, but more importantly, an enormous experience was gained posing foundations for further culinary successes at the international scene. The biggest challenge set before the representation will be Culinary Olympics in Erfurt, Germany in 2008.
Podravka participated as the general sponsor of Croatian Culinary Association and made special uniforms, in which the candidates presented themselves in Moscow, and apart from that they prepared meals with Podravka's most famous product - Vegeta.
